New York, NY, May 28, 2009—Weiser LLP, one of the nation’s top 25 regional accounting firms, has created The Weiser SOX Kit via a web based platform from Aline, a leader in On-demand SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) and GRC tools. An audit-ready SOX solution, Weiser’s new offering is easier, faster, and less expensive than manual processes or other complicated methods designed for larger corporations. The Kit was developed for companies with a public float of less than $75 million, known as non-accelerated filers, who must comply with the auditor attestation requirement in their annual reports filed for fiscal years ending on or after December 15, 2009, a date that has been moved several times by the SEC. According to Mary L. Schapiro, the SEC’s Chairman, “Right now, we have a system where some issuers are complying with [SOX] and others are still exempt from it. It’s time that we bring uniformity to the system so that investors know what to expect from companies, while being sensitive to the needs of small businesses.” As such, we believe that further delays for small filers to comply with SOX are unlikely and now is the time to comply with the Act. The Weiser SOX Kit includes all the tools a non-accelerated filer needs to become compliant, with less cost and effort: Proven internal control templates customized to your business; risk-based testing; seamless reporting, including dashboards; and instant access to manage your progress in real time. The result is unprecedented audit readiness that is more reliable and less expensive than other methods. The benefit to the non-accelerated filer is an automated, reliable, and consistent process that significantly reduces the external audit effort, year over year — backed by the expertise of Weiser. According to Chris Janis, Weiser’s Partner-in-Charge of the firm’s Internal Audit Risk Management Practice, “The market is wrought with inefficient ways of doing SOX. Most use a manual process of collecting documents and processes, without the advantages that technology and years of experience bring. With the Weiser SOX Kit, we offer a scalable solution that not only meets the SEC requirement, but also improves visibility and accountability, with confidence, while building a foundation for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).” “We are very excited about working with Weiser’s team of professionals,” comments Richard Binswanger, Senior Vice President at Aline. “Weiser can directly offer clients industry expertise while helping them manage risk and meet the SEC deadline—a winning combination.” About Weiser, LLP About Aline |
